Here's election results for local contested races in Jefferson County

The Jefferson County Sheriff kept her seat for a third term and a Groves City Council race will be decided in a December runoff.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Along with the race for President we've been watch several contested local races in Jefferson County.

Incumbent Jefferson County Sheriff Zena Stephens will serve a third term after successfully defending her seat by winning 54.8% of the vote.

In the race for tax assessor-collector Kate Carroll won with 54.85% of the vote.

Groves Ward Four city council member Rhonda Dugas lost her seat but her successor won't be decided until a December runoff between challengers Rae Shauna Gay and Kyle Hollier.

Voters living in the Beaumont Independent School District have said yes to a tax rate approval that the district says will generate $13M that can be used to give raises to teachers and staff.
