BEAUMONT, Texas — The Texas Rangers and Beaumont Police are investigating the department's fourth deadly officer-involved shooting of this year.
12News was able to examine Beaumont Police Department's history of each deadly officer-involved shooting that took place in 2024 so far.
Police shot and killed Victoria Meza, 43, after she fired shots at officers as they were serving an arrest warrant in the South Park neighborhood.
This is the fourth officer-involved shooting in Beaumont this year alone and the second in the past week.
Manuel Arteaga, 42, was shot and killed by Beaumont officers on Saturday, August 24 after police say he was "armed with a chainsaw."
Police responded to a disturbance call at a home on Harriot St. While arresting Arteaga's nephew, police say the man approached them "armed with a chainsaw."
His family says he was cutting up logs that night and was putting the chainsaw down when he was shot.
"The Beaumont Police Department, of course, is committed to a transparent and thorough investigation, which is going to take some time," said Beaumont Officer Haley Morrow.
The department has yet to file an officer-involved shooting report on this case with the Office of the Attorney General.

In February, officers responded to a reported aggravated family violence assault with a gun. Jeremie Coleman drove away in his truck, led officers on a brief chase, crashed, then got out and pointed a gun at officers.
Coleman was shot and killed after pointing the gun at officers.
In July, two officers were sent to Old Town to check on a man who was possibly suicidal. When officers arrived, they found Charles Carrol holding a gun, standing in the street.
Officers fatally shot Carrol shortly after.
A Jefferson County Grand Jury chose not to indict the officers earlier this month.

12News spoke with a man who stopped by to check on family in the South Park neighborhood where the Friday morning deadly officer-involved shooting took place.
He says he doesn't understand why officer-involved shootings keep happening.
"I do feel that it could be a better way in situations like this, could be completely avoided if people understood one another more and made an effort to get to know each other and just learn more about one another," he said. "I think that would help out a lot."
