JASPER, Texas — Parts of Southeast Texas could see a total of one to three inches of snow thanks to some wintery weather moving through the area.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 11 for Tyler County, northern Jasper County and northern Newton County.
If you have to be on the road, you should be on the lookout for icy spots. Those tend to be a concern on bridges and overpasses.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Hardin County, south Jasper and south Newton County until 8 a.m. on Monday. A wintry mix is possible for these areas.
"Precipitation across most of the area is expected to remain predominantly cold rain, but across interior southeast Texas and Central Louisiana, snow and/or sleet is expected to mix with the rain, and eventually become the dominant weather type in some locations," according to the NWS. "As such, some accumulation of sleet and/or snow is forecast, with 1 to 3 inches expected and higher amounts possible."
Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department Chief James Gunter told 12News Sunday night the department was called to two accidents, both weather-related, in its district. He said the conditions on Hwy. 190 west of Jasper are icy.
"A light glaze of ice is possible, mainly on elevated surfaces. Areas north of Interstate 10 may experience a mix of rain and snow showers," the National Weather Service tweeted on Sunday.
Some schools have already made adjustments to schedules for Monday due to possible hazardous conditions.

The National Weather Service is warning those living in the affected winter storm warning areas about heavy mixed precipitation. The warnings also are in place for Louisiana, Vernon and Rapides parishes.
Drivers should plan on roads being slippery. "The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute," the NWS said.
The Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department in Jasper County shared a video of the flakes falling on Sunday around 3:30.
