Lumberton looks onto new horizons under Chase McDonald in 2024

"It's our jobs as Coaches to make sure we're executing and everything we do is to reach that standard," said Chase McDonald.

LUMBERTON, Texas — Before the leaves turn brown and the air gets colder, Chase McDonald will morph the Lumberton Raiders into the vision he has for his squad in 2024. 

Coming off of two consecutive successful seasons that saw the Raiders go 19-6 overall (11-2 in 2022, 8-4 in 2023), Coach McDonald is prepared to continue the Lumberton winning ways. 

Lumberton graduated 33 from last year's squad, but in asking about the group he inherited this season McDonald said, "The kids that we do return, we feel highly about. We're looking to seeing them grow as leaders."  

As it stands right now, Dave Campbell's Texas High School Football projects that the Lumberton Raiders will finish in third place in District 10-4a DI, behind the Vidor Pirates (2nd) and the LCM Battlin' Bears (1st). 

"It's our jobs as Coaches to make sure we're executing and everything we do is to reach that standard," Coach McDonald said about how he and his coaching staff will adapt to the big shoes left behind from Coach James Reyes. 

"Everyday when you walk through those doors, you've got to bring it, and I'm going to," Coach McDonald on his mentality entering the season under his new role as head coach. 

Two-a-days will begin across the 409 in just a few weeks, with Lumberton as one of the more exciting teams to watch find their identity in 2024.
