BEAUMONT, Texas — We've been working to clear the shelters since August 10 and so far we're nearing our goal with 190 pets adopted. You can help us get to our goal of 200 by September 10!
On Saturday, August 24, 2024, 12News staff members spent much of the day at The Humane Society of Southeast Texas doing live broadcasts and even adopting a few pets themselves. By the end of the day at least 17 dogs and cats found their forever homes.
Since the start of the Clear the Shelters event on August 10, 2024, more than 100 pets have found homes.
12News is joining NBC and Telemundo stations across the country to team up with hundreds of shelters to host Clear the Shelters, a nationwide pet adoption drive starting August 10, 2024, that helps find loving homes for animals in need. More than 1,000,000 pets have found their forever homes since the program began.
More than 1,000 shelters and rescues around the country have already registered to participate in this year's campaign.
This year we're working to Clear the Shelters at not one, but FIVE shelters including four in Southeast Texas one on Lake Charles.
12News is partnering with the Humane Society of Southeast Teas, Beaumont Animal Care and Beaumont Pets Alive and Cats of Chase in Lake Charles to find homes for all of their dogs and cats during the month of August.
