KOUNTZE, Texas — The Kountze lady Lionettes have a new head basketball coach. Tena Matthews Williams will be taking over the squad. Coach Williams played basketball for northwestern state and was the "23rd" player to score "1000" points in program history.
Coach Williams said earlier in a quote to 12news "My hope is that I am able to "effectively" teach a group of girls how to be winners! This applies to life outside of the arena of sports! I'm excited about this years journey."
Coach Matthews Williams will be having a meet and greet for the community on Tuesday, July 23rd in the Kountze high school cafeteria. It will run from 5 pm to 8:30 pm with food, music, games, door prizes and a "Q and A" session!
