KOUNTZE, Texas — Today across the country student-athletes wrote their names on a piece of paper giving their intent to play at their chosen programs.
At Kountze Independent School District, three of their athletes signed to play at the next level.
Two play softball for Kountze, while one comes from their Lionettes basketball program.
Mckinley Rowinsky wrote her intent down to head off to Missouri to play for the Vikings at Jefferson College.
"This school really provides the opportunity to move onto the next level, I know it's only a junior college but they will help me move onto the next level if I want to move on. So, I'm really grateful for that opportunity," Rowinsky said about headed to play college softball.
The other Lions softball athlete headed off is Kyla Parker, she's on her way to become a Reiver (a river pirate) at Iowa Western Community College.
When asked about Parker's journey up to this point, she said, "I started playing when I was six, seven-years-old. Took lots of hard work and dedication. I was out on the softball field early in the a.m., late in the p.m., and all thanks really go out to my dad for being out there to help me."
Lamar basketball will also be receiving another recruit as Keyiona McDaniel will be taking her talents to Big Red.
McDaniel was excited to get to play under Coach Aqua Franklin of LU and said, "They're a great team and I'm just ready to be a part of that family."
12News wants to give our biggest congratulations to all three student-athletes and we wish them the best on the rest of their collegiate endeavors!
