JASPER COUNTY, Texas — The Jasper County burn ban will be lifted Nov. 22, 2023 at midnight.
The burn ban has been in effect for at least a month due to low amounts of rainfall leading to drought like conditions.
Kirbyville Volunteer Fire Department posted on their Facebook page that the burn ban will be lifted and citizens can burn again Wednesday morning.
"The local declaration of disaster and countywide restriction will end tomorrow night at midnight, so basically Wednesday morning citizens should be able to burn household waste, brush piles, etc," said Jasper County Judge Mark Allen.
Kirbyville VFD asks that residents of Jasper County still use caution when burning and make sure that there is a water source nearby.
It's important to monitor fires closely and not to leave them unattended until they are extinguished.
"We are in hopes that we will continue to receive rainfall amounts sufficient to get us clear of the drought completely, but we should not let our guard down because of the amount of dead foliage on the ground and in the woods," Judge Allen said.
