Lucas Loe and his team of Coast Guard Marine Inspectors discovered a dog trapped inside a shipping container at the Bayport Container Terminal.

SILSBEE, Texas — A Silsbee man helped rescue a dog from an unusual place, and it's now gone viral.

Lucas Loe and his team of Coast Guard Marine Inspectors discovered a dog trapped inside a shipping container at the Bayport Container Terminal in Seabrook, TX.

The team that rescued the dog named her Connie the Container dog. Connie was trapped in a container for over a week, but now she's safe.

Loe grew up in Silsbee and he's a professional videographer and Coast Guard reservist. He's grateful to have been on duty the day his team found Connie.

Loe tells 12News the dog likely wandered into the container in Houston before being shipped to Seabrook.

He says his team will never forget the moment they found Connie.

"It's a very rare occurrence. We never run into live animals," said Loe.

Loe is a Marine Science Technician First Class. He and his team of Coast Guard Marine Inspectors had just started their day on Wednesday when they ran into a problem.

"The chair was not working for us so we were sticking around longer than we normally would and that's when we heard the barking," Loe said.

The team moved quickly to find the noisy container.

"We were able to get in touch with the facility to come bring that container down," Loe told 12News.

That's where Loe and his team discovered Connie and dubbed her The Container Dog.

"She was real brittle. She was thin. She had dirt and grime all over her. We just found out today that her paws are white. And they were just completely black when we found her," he said.

Connie had been trapped for more than a week inside the shipping container stacked four containers high.

"Yeah, I mean, I couldn't believe it. Eight days is a long time for anything to live in a container like that," Loe said.

Loe grew up in Silsbee and he's a professional videographer and Coast Guard reservist. He's grateful to have been on duty the day his team found Connie.

"I hope she goes to a great home. I wish we could have adopted her," said Loe.

Connie is in good health and Loe says she traveling on a private plane headed to an East Coast rescue shelter, where a loving family is waiting to adopt her.
