BEAUMONT, Texas — Evening anchor Brenda Matute will soon leave 12News to begin a new chapter of her career in North Texas.

Matute joined the 12News team in August 2022. She’s anchored The Beat at 4 p.m. and has co-anchored 12News at 6 and 10 p.m. alongside Jordan Williams.

She has been a trusted voice in Southeast Texas, delivering the news with warmth and integrity in a manner that has resonated deeply with viewers.

Brenda’s passion for storytelling and commitment to journalistic excellence have made her a beloved figure and her presence will be greatly missed.

Throughout her time here at 12News, Brenda has stepped off the desk to cover wildfires, brought innovative ideas to the table and mentored many newsroom employees. Matute has been a pivotal player in recent Emmy and Murrow award wins for 12News.

Earlier in 2024 she and Williams won a Texas Broadcast News Award for best anchor team for Texas small market stations.

"Every day when Brenda sits on the anchor desk, she brings a trust and authenticity that Southeast Texas deserves,” said news director Ginny Sweeney. “I am honored to have worked with her and learned from her. Brenda's contribution to this community is immeasurable."
