BEAUMONT, Texas — The 12News newsroom team won five prestigious awards Saturday night.
Broadcast journalists from around the state gathered in Austin on Saturday night for the Texas Association of Broadcasters Second Annual Texas Broadcast News Awards to celebrate radio and television winners from around the state.
12News won awards in the small market television division.
The TV-Small division includes Beaumont-Port Arthur, Odessa-Midland, Wichita Falls-Lawton, Sherman-Ada, Abilene-Sweetwater, Laredo and San Angelo and Victoria.
Anchors Brenda Matute and Jordan Williams won in the Anchor Team category.
Williams also won in the Feature(Serious) category for "A Tribute to a Trailblazer, which featured former Jefferson County Tax Assessor Collector Alison Getz.
Photographer, Darry Chillow, and WIlliams' piece, "Carbon Capture," won in the General Assignment category.
Matute, Williams, producer Korbyn Lee and reporters Gloria Walker and Ebonee Coleman won the Breaking News category for "Jasper County Wildfire."
The 12News team won the Evening Newscast for "12News at 10: State Champs," featuring coverage of Port Neche-Groves High School's state football championship.
Nearly 600 entries were received for this year's contest.
The Texas Broadcast News Awards recognize "outstanding local journalism produced by TAB Member Radio and TV stations serving local communities throughout the state."

The contest began in 2022 anad replaced the Texas Associated Press Broadcast Awards which were discontinued.
The other divisions included the large and the medium TV market divisions.
The large markets include Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and Austin.
Medium markets include Waco-Temple-Bryan, Rio Grande Valley, Texarkana-Shreveport, El Paso-Las Cruces, Tyler-Longview-Lufkin Nacogdoches, Corpus Christi, Amarillo and Lubbock.
