ORANGEFIELD, Texas — Orangefield ISD named an interim superintendent to take over on Thursday while the search continues for a permanent replacement.
Kevin Weldon will step into the job, and has several years of experience as a superintendent according to the district.
The announcement comes after Dr. Stephen Patterson resigned from his position on Nov. 5.
A news release from the district said the board wouldn't comment on the matter further when issuing a release saying the board believes his 'resignation was in the best interest of the District.'
From an Orangefiled ISD news release:
The Board of Trustees has selected Kevin Weldon as the Interim Superintendent effective November 21, 2019 to lead the district while a search for a permanent superintendent is conducted. Mr. Weldon has several years of experience as a superintendent and the Board is confident he will provide effective leadership for the district during this transition period.
