ORANGEFIELD, Texas — Orangefield ISD announced on Tuesday its superintendent, Dr. Stephen Patterson has resigned.
A news release from the district said the board won't be commenting on the matter any further, the board believes his 'resignation was in the best interest of the District.'
The board will meet in the the upcoming weeks to choose an interim superintendent and to being the search for a permanent superintendent.
In the meantime, Mr. Shaun MeAlpin will serve as the acting superintendent for the district.

ORANGEFIELD INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT PRESS STATEMENT OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Dr. Stephen Patterson has announced his resignation as Superintendent of the Orangefield Independent School District effective November 5, 2019. Although the Board will not be commenting on this personnel matter in more detail as a professional courtesy, we do believe Dr. Patterson's resignation was in the best interest of the District.
The Board of Trustees recognizes Orangefield ISD is a great school district with wonderful students, parents and administrators, and is proud of the achievements and accomplishments of the entire District team during Dr. Patterson's tenure as Superintendent.
The Board will meet in the coming weeks to select an interim superintendent and also to begin the search for a new permanent superintendent to lead the District as we move forward. In the meantime, Mr. Shaun MeAlpin will serve as the acting Superintendent for the District.
The Board extends its best wishes to Dr. Patterson in his future endeavors.
