BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont man has plead guilty to murder in the the March 27, 2022 shooting death of 31-year-old Richard Shillow.
After appearing before the 252nd District Court Tuesday afternoon, Charles Verdine plead guilty to his part in the murder of Shillow and was then sentenced to 35 years in prison per a plea agreement.
The charge of harassment of a correctional officer, and a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle were dismissed as part of the plea.
Verdine is one of four total co-defendants facing charges for the murder of Shillow. Kaylin Johnson was sentenced to 25 years in prison, Ronald Babino was sentenced to 22 years in prison, and Joseph Freeman is set November 12 for sentencing.

Officers were sent to the Virginia Estates Apartments just before 7:30 p.m. back in 2022 for a shots fired call. When they arrived they found Shillow suffering from gunshot wounds.
Shillow was taken by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he was pronounced dead a short time later police said.
Police obtained surveillance video during their investigation that showed what they believed to be two of the suspects and their car according to the news release.

About four hours after the shooting at 11:30 p.m. a Beaumont officer was flagged down at a gas station in the 3000 block of Cardinal drive about a truck theft that had just happened.
During the auto theft investigation police received surveillance video that appeared to show that the suspects and the car from the murder were also involved in the truck theft.
The men were arrested less than six hours after Beaumont Police say they were involved in murder at a south Beaumont apartment complex.
Two other teens, both 14-year-old boys, were also charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon and evading police on foot.
