BEAUMONT, Texas — Another man has been charged in connection with the 2022 murder and aggravated robbery of Richard Shillow.

Joseph Charles Freeman is one of two men charged in connection to 32-year-old Shillow's death.

Freeman appeared before Judge Raquel West in the 252nd District Court Monday morning. Rather than go to trial, he pled guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery.

Prosecuting the case is Tommy Lamar Coleman with Wendell Radford Jr. defending Freeman.

Judge West ordered a pre-sentencing report and will hold a sentencing hearing once it is complete.

Freeman faces from five to 99 years or life in prison.

The court will also decide what to do with the murder charge after the pre-sentencing report is complete.

Previously Kaylon Johnson, a Beaumont teen, pled guilty to the 2022 shooting death and was sentenced to 25 years.

On March 28, 2022, Shillow was found laying on his back next to a red Cadillac with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Shillow was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where he later died. A witness told police that two men, one with a gun, approached the car and started shooting.

Surveillance video showed the suspect's vehicle was a stolen GMC. The car was found after it was tracked using a cell phone left in it at the time of the theft.

Officers spotted the GMC and tried to stop it, but the driver sped off according to the affidavit.

Officers arrested the people in the car after it was stopped.
