BEAUMONT, Texas — Two inmates were discovered missing from the satellite federal prison camp in Beaumont Friday afternoon.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons notified the U.S. Marshals Service and other law enforcement agencies that Salvador Garcia, 59, and Victor Luis Pescador, 56, were missing around 3 p.m. Friday, July 12.
Garcia is a 5 ft. 6 in. white man with black hair and brown eyes and weighs 190 pounds, Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson Amberly Newman said in a release. Pescador is a white man with black hair, brown eyes and is 5 ft. 9 in. tall and weighs 210 pounds.
Pescador was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2004 for possession with intent to distribute marijuana by the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Texas, Newman said. Garcia was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2005 for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute a quantity of marijuana and knowingly evading reporting requirements with financial institutions as part of a pattern of illegal activity by the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Texas.
The satellite prison camp in Beaumont is a minimum security facility that currently houses 571 male offenders, the release stated.
Several inmates have escaped the satellite prison camp over the last few years. Since the beginning of 2019, six inmates have escaped from the minimum security satellite camp at the Beaumont Federal Prison Complex in two separate escapes in January and February.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons is conducting an internal investigation about the escape. Anyone with information about these inmates should contact the United States Marshals Service at (713) 718-4800.
