Two federal inmates and a Sherman, Tx, woman have been indicted on escape charges according to the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas' office.
Todd Allen Hammer, 40, and Jason Wesley Tate, 44, federal inmates at the Federal Prison Camp at the Federal Correctional Complex in Beaumont, and Hammer's girlfriend, Lorna Leslie, 55, of Sherman, were all indicted on May 4 on charges of escaping from federal prison custody and conspiracy to escape federal custody according to a release from the U.S. Attorney's office.
Hammer was serving a sentence in the prison camp for drug trafficking and firearms violations and was convicted in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas.
Tate was serving a sentence in the prison camp for drug trafficking and was convicted in the Western District of Texas.
The U.S. Attorney's office alleges that on April 9, 2016, Hammer and Tate, escaped from the prison camp with help from Hammer's girlfriend, Lorna Leslie.
All three were captured six days later by the U.S. Marshals Service in Dallas on April 15, 2016.
If convicted on all charges the trio faces up to five years in federal prison.
