Man arrested in robbery scam, luring victims with iPhone 11 listing on Facebook Marketplace

The suspect allegedly lured victims to an apartment complex with an iPhone 11 listed on Facebook Marketplace and then robbed them at gunpoint.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police has a suspect in custody who allegedly lured victims by listing an iPhone for sale on Facebook Marketplace and then robbing them at gunpoint. 

Jerrel Marshall, 22, is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, Officer Haley Morrow said. 

The robbery happened Sunday, Feb 16 at an apartment complex in the 5200 block of South Martin Luther King Parkway. The victims told police they went to the apartments to buy an iPhone 11 listed on Facebook Marketplace. When the victims arrived, the suspect held them at gunpoint and demanded their possessions and ran from the scene, police said.

Investigators identified the suspect and obtained two aggravated robbery warrants for Jerrel Marshall on April 8. 

The investigation is still ongoing. Beaumont Police said they expect to file other additional charges in this case and other similar cases.
