Man accused of murdering Beaumont teen turns himself in

Ta'Dran Carmon was a senior at Beaumont United High School. He was found dead inside his car on Tuesday evening.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The man who Beaumont Police say murdered a teen has turned himself in.

Koy Wayne Dodd Jr., 19, of Beaumont, turned himself in to BPD Monday for the murder of 17 year old Ta'Dran Carmon.

Carmon was a senior at Beaumont United High School. He was found dead inside his car on Chaison Avenue Tuesday evening.

On March 19, police were sent to the 4100 block of Chaison at about 10:30 p.m. after a caller reported shots being fired.

When officers arrived they found Carmon, who had been mortally wounded, inside a car according to Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr.

He was a senior at Beaumont United High School according to a district spokesperson.

Carmon was just a few months shy of his 18th birthday in July.
