Platt was already being held on an unrelated charge in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility and is now being held on the murder charge police said.
Police got a first degree murder warrant for Platt on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, and then booked him on the charge.
His bond was set at $950,000 by Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr., according to police.
When police were sent to the area of Avenue C and Crockett St they found the body of Tomlinson wrapped in a sleeping bag and a tarp and covered with several tires.
Police say that while being interviewed by investigators Platt admitted that he had killed Tomlinson and told them details about the murder.
Tomlinson's death was later ruled as a homicide after it was determined that he was strangled.
