65-year-old Beaumont man identified as homicide victim found Sunday

When Beaumont police officers arrived to the scene, they found the "significantly decomposed" body of Johnny Tomlinson, 65, in a small wooded area.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police detectives have identified a homicide victim found on Sunday.

On Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, Beaumont Police responded to a call about a deceased person in the area of Avenue C and Crockett Street.

When officers arrived, they found a "significantly decomposed" man in a small wooded area, according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department. 

On Tuesday, detectives released descriptions and sketches of the victim’s three tattoos in order to identify him.

On Wednesday, the victim was identified as Johnny Tomlinson, 65. 

Tomlinson's death is being investigated as a homicide, according to the release.

Detectives are now asking anyone with information on Tomlinson’s whereabouts from Oct. 15 and on, as well as any known associates to please contact their department at 409-832-1234.
