BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police announced, on Monday, the arrest of two men in connection with the murder of a 57-year-old Beaumont man at a home in September.

Romeo Johnson, 36 and Brandon Barnes, 39, both of Beaumont, are suspects in the murder of Ronald Barnes, 57, according to a news release from Beaumont Police.

Johnson was already in the Jefferson County Correctional Facility on an unrelated charge and Dodd was taken into custody earlier on Monday by the U.S. Marshal's Service, police said.

Dodd is currently being interviewed by detectives, police say.

Just after 3 a.m., on Saturday, September 14, 2024, officers responded to a house in the 2200 block of Ives St. in reference to a homicide.

When they got there, they found Barnes' body man inside the house.

An autopsy was ordered by Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr.

Beaumont Police Department's Crimes Against Persons detectives, in coordination with the Narcotics Unit, led the investigation.
