Beaumont police investigating homicide after man was found dead inside house

​Just after 3 a.m., officers responded to a house in the 2200 block of Ives St. in reference to a homicide.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside a house early Saturday morning.

Just after 3 a.m., officers responded to a house in the 2200 block of Ives St. in reference to a homicide. 

When they got there, they found the body of a 57-year-old man inside the house.

Police have identified the victim as Ronald Barnes. His family has been notified.

Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. has ordered an autopsy.

Beaumont Police say that the person of interest in connection with the homicide, Romeo Randolph Johnson, has turned himself in on an unrelated warrant. He is speaking with detectives.

Beaumont Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Detectives, in coordination with the Narcotics Unit, are leading the investigation. 

The Jefferson County Crime Lab is assisting with scene processing.
