Finance director charged with stealing $83K from Beaumont Chamber of Commerce

BEAUMONT, Texas — A former Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce Director of Finance and Administration is being charged with theft, a 3rd degree felony, for allegedly stealing money from her employer.

Sidnee Lewis worked for the chamber of commerce from November 2022 to May 2024. A probable cause affidavit shared by magistrate Judge Marc DeRouen, states that Lewis stole over $83,000 worth of merchandise and services.

In December 2022, Lewis is alleged to have conducted unauthorized transactions using credit cards attached to accounts under the chamber of commerce and Beaumont Chamber Foundation, according to the affidavit.

Lewis is also alleged to have conducted unauthorized Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions using Rave Financial and Capital One accounts where the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce is the account holder to pay her personal bills and debts. This includes credit card payments, personal vehicle insurance and a City of Beaumont Speeding Citation to name a few, according to the affidavit.

The total amount of the theft at this time is $83,362.
