Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce President/CEO announces resignation due to health Issues

In a press release from the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce they say that President and CEO, Steve Ahlenius, will be resigning from his position.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The President/CEO of Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce announced his resignation Friday citing health issues.

In a press release from the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce they say that President and CEO, Steve Ahlenius, will be resigning from his position due to a "significant health issue that necessitates his full attention".

The resignation will be effective September 30.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for their unwavering support, guidance, and leadership during my tenure. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated and passionate individuals who consistently strive to advance the interests of our community and its businesses,” said Ahlenius.

The GBCOC Board of Directors has named Mary Poole as Interim President/CEO, who will assume responsibilities October 1 according to the press release 

The Board will reportedly begin the process of selecting a permanent successor. They say that at this time, the Chamber's primary focus remains on supporting its members, and advancing key initiatives.

The Chamber says they remain committed to serving the Beaumont business community and looks forward to a smooth transition under Mary Poole's leadership.
