BEAUMONT, Texas — A Beaumont church is hoping to bless Southeast Texas families in need by handing out hundreds of frozen turkeys this Saturday, November 23.
Redemption Church, located at 601 Park St., is holding it's Annual Turkey Day Giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The church plans to hand out 500 free frozen turkeys. The Turkey Day Giveaway is the church's largest outreach program of the year, according to Pastor Byron Ellis.
Pastor Ellis tells 12News that the church buys the turkeys themselves to give away to families in need this Thanksgiving.
Redemption Church is almost done with its "first phase" of construction which will add a sanctuary, a stage and a balcony.
Pastor Ellis says he hopes that the renovations will breathe new life, not only into the church, but the rest of downtown as well.
The church is expanding into what used to be a nightclub many years ago, now housing a very different type of gathering than what it was originally built for.
Pastor Ellis' goal is to continue to preserve downtown's rich history, while helping bring back local businesses, and of course bring in more churchgoers.
