BEAUMONT, Texas — There are plenty of events happening around Southeast Texas this weekend for everyone to enjoy.

From tacos to skating to music, there is something for everyone all around the area.

Saturday

Taco and Margarita Festival- The festival is returning to Southeast Texas on June 22 at Doggett Ford Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Besides tacos and margaritas, the festival will also feature live music, live pro wrestling, games, mechanical bull riding and shopping with local vendors.

The Old West Smoke Company is looking to defend its "Taco Championship Belt" after being voted Best Taco at the 2023 Festival by a panel of local celebrity judges.

VIP gates open at 11 a.m. and General Admission gates open at 12 p.m. Tickets for the festival are on sale now at The Doggett Ford Park website. Tickets start at $10 for General Admission, with $45 and $75 VIP optional upgrades. These upgrades include early access and a t-shirt. The $75 option includes 4 taco and margarita vouchers.

Go Skate Day- The Beaumont Go Skate Day concert will kick off the series on Saturday, June 22 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Beaumont Skate Park next to the Lakeside Center in downtown Beaumont.

The event will feature live entertainment from the headliner, Austin-based band FONT and local favorites NuSoul and Psycho Jenni. There will be an 18 and up skate competition hosted by EVRYNG apparel. Entries can be submitted online or in person at the event starting at 4 p.m. Tacos El Primo and Gelu Italian Ice will be there to satisfy your hunger.

The City of Beaumont Go Skate Day event is supported by Del Papa Distributing.

Purple Hull Festival- The Shankleville Historical Society is hosting the Texas Purple Hull Pea Festival this Saturday for the 10th year at the Addie & A.T. Odom Homestead from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The festival will have multiple vendors like the pop-up from Kirbyville Farmers Market, a kid zone, carnival games, purple pea contests and a mini car show. There will also be historical walking tours that include a tour of the Addie & A.T. Odom Homestead, a National Historic Site being refurbished to its 1940 aesthetic, as well as tours of the local cemeteries.

The day ends with the highlight of the festival, the Matthew H. Clay, Jr. Memorial Concert featuring Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble.

Kirbyville Car Show- This Saturday, June 22nd, the Kirbyville Area Chamber of Commerce will be holding their 3rd Annual Car Show. The show will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the car Awards at 11 a.m. Entertainment will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Along with the beautiful cars they will have a Kids Funzone, sponsored by Venture Global LNG. There will be three bounce houses for the kids to entertain themselves with while the parents look at the cars, eat some amazing foods and listen to great music. The Kids Funzone is $5 all day.  The money received from the Funzone is going towards the scholarship fund for two seniors in the class of 2025.

Some of the food trucks at the car show will be Tony's Taco Hub, Southern Comfort, Lykins Concessions and The Bird Cage. There will also be a LifeShare bus so people can donate if they would like to.

Ham Radio Field Day- The Jefferson County Amateur Radio Club members in Nederland will participate in a national Amateur Radio Field Day exercise on June 22 – 23, 2024, at Cropo Leblanc Park at 923 Boston Avenue in Nederland.

ARRL Field Day begins on Saturday, June 22, at 8 am and continues until Noon on Sunday, June 23.

Port Arthur Black Music Month event- The Port Arthur Public Library is recognizing Black Music Month on Saturday, June 22 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees will hear staff and speakers explain the history of black music, enjoy black local artists performing live and have light refreshments.

Black local artists performing include King Connection, Dhonya Bergeron, Valerie Jolivet, Shelton Forrest and more.

Gift of Life men's health screening- The Gift of Life will be holding a free prostate screening at the Port Arthur Health Department on Saturday, June 22 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event will feature a heartwarming tribute to Apostle Glenn E. Alexander Sr. and a check presentation at 9:30 a.m. hosted by Motiva representatives.
