Louisiana evacuees ride out Tropical Storm Barry in Beaumont

"It's rough for us this time of year"

BEAUMONT, Texas — As Tropical Storm Barry barrels up south Louisiana, Coby Bolden is watching the destruction from Beaumont.

Bolden is from Abbeville, Louisiana - not far from where Barry made landfall as a hurricane Saturday.

"It's rough for us this time of year, we've never really done this before," Bolden said.

Bolden and his family drove to Beaumont to ride out the storm. He says they're hoping everything is still in place when they return home. They expect to remain in Beaumont through Sunday.

And Bolden isn't alone. Several hotels in and around Beaumont tell 12News they've seen several residents from south Louisiana booking rooms ahead of Barry's landfall.

The Holiday Inn on 11th Street in Beaumont was sold out Saturday.

The hotel will be the temporary home to hundreds of Entergy workers, who will be available to provide assistance in Louisiana.
