BEAUMONT, Texas — The 12News meteorologists have declared a weather impact alert day for Monday when we expect to get some possibly heavy rain from the remnants of Beryl.

Beryl is forecast to make landfall Monday morning in South Texas before moving inland and to the north and weakening to a tropical depression.

Our weather impact alert now for all day Monday, July 8, 2024, when we could get two to four inches of potentially heavy rain from what's left of the storm. More rain is expected in the further western portions of the region.

Your outdoor activities and travel could be affected by the rain.

Our alert day has been updated several several times over the last few days because Beryl has been evolving as it moves towards Texas.

We also could expect some localized street flooding.

Remember the waying, "turn around, don't drown," and don't drive through deep standing water.

What is a Weather Impact Alert?

The 12News Weather Impact Team is working to keep you safe and informed ahead of any weather threat coming our way.

It’s always our goal to make sure you have the most accurate and up-to-date information about the weather and its impact on you. Weather Impact Alerts will be just that - alerts as far in advance as possible, so that you can be armed with accurate information to keep yourself and your family safe.

A "Weather Impact Alert" is simply a day, or even just a portion of a day, when we're expecting weather that you may need to prepare for or change your plans for. This could be as simple as us letting you know you'll need an umbrella for a few hours in the afternoon.

When will we see Weather Impact Alerts?

You might see our 12News Weather Impact Team call for a weather impact alert for an entire day. That means significant weather is coming and you need to take action. Or you might see us call for a weather impact alert for a few hours during a particular day, meaning you might need to adjust some plans during that time frame.

Either way, we will arm you with details on when the threat is coming, what the impact will be to you and what you need to do.

Those details are...

  • WHEN:  What day or time will this happen?
  • IMPACT: How will it impact you?
  • NEED: What do you need to do?

No matter the alert, you will have a heads up to any weather that might impact you and your family.
