BEAUMONT, Texas — The wild winter weather swings will continue across Southeast Texas Wednesday.

After dropping to chilly temperatures on Monday, the area is experiencing a 20-30 degree warm up ahead of the threat of severe weather.

SEVERE WEATHER THREAT

Thunderstorms: The Golden Triangle is under a marginal risk for severe weather Wednesday. This means isolated severe thunderstorms are possible. Gusty winds are the biggest threat with winds 40+mph likely. Hail is not expected with these storms. While tornadoes cannot be ruled out, the risk remains low.

Wind Advisory: Orange and Jefferson County are under this advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Gusty winds of 30-40+mph are likely.

Coastal flood advisory: In effect until midnight Thursday

TIMING & THREATS

The cold front bringing these storms will mean rain for most of the day for Southeast Texas. The heaviest rain is expected to arrive after noon Wednesday and push through after 6 p.m.

While the rainfall will be coming down nearly all day, it won't amount to any big flooding concerns.

On average, an inch of rain is likely for the area, with some higher amounts possible along the coast.

Localized ponding on roadways and low-lying areas is expected to be the worse we'll see from the storms.

Colder air will look to return on overnight from Wednesday to Thursday and then linger into Friday.

We’ll see clearing skies for Thursday but it’ll be breezy as well. So that thicker coat will be needed once again.
