Power outages, road closures across Southeast Texas as severe weather rolls in Monday afternoon

A line of strong to severe storms are forecast to move through Southeast Texas Monday afternoon with the risk of hail and damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph.

BEAUMONT, Texas — A line of strong to severe storms are forecast to move through the area this afternoon with this risk of damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, hail, and an isolated tornado risk. 

A break in the rain Tuesday and Wednesday before the next system moves into the area Thursday.

The Toledo Bend Reservoir shared that their spillway gates have changed from 11,000 to 22,000  cubic feet per second (cfs). 11 gates are opened at 2 feet each.

Road Conditions

TxDOT has temporarily closed FM 777 just east of CR 146 at Walnut Run Creek in Jasper for water over the road, according to our media partner, the East Texas Banner.

Drivetexas.org shows that FM 563 in Liberty County is closed north and southbound due to water over the roadway. This is between Highway 90 in Ames and FM 770 near Moss Bluff.

 FM 2681 in Liberty County is closed north and southbound from Hwy 90 in Liberty to about 2 miles south of Liberty.

Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department posted on their Facebook that CR 323 at CR 151 is flooded.
