JASPER COUNTY, Texas — Snow. In Southeast Texas. In November.
It was the start of a winter wonderland for some in Jasper County Thursday night.
12News StormTracker Chief Meteorologist Patrick Vaughn said the flurries were real and were are caused by an upper level low pressure.
Vaughn said the snow was likely caused by the upper level low pressure has moved into the area, bringing a pocket of cold air in.
This means a pocket of cold air has moved closer to the ground than what we would typically seen.
When the cold air got close to the ground, it caused any precipitation, like the light drizzle we're seeing, to freeze and fall as snowflakes.
Terri Rhame shared video of flurries between Evadale and Buna on Thursday night.
