The City of Beaumont joins forces with nonprofit organizations, to keep the people warm

The City of Beaumont is providing warming stations and mobile warming buses for those in need.

BEAUMONT, Texas — The City of Beaumont and local organizations, like the Salvation Army, have stepped up to help serve the underserved, as the severely cold temperatures set in.

Councilman Randy Feldschau says that the collaborative efforts from the city and shelters are helping keep those in need, warm.

City leaders created mobile warming stations throughout Beaumont, to offer shelter from the cold snap.

“It is my understanding that several people have taken advantage of the warming buses," said Feldschau.

He also says that the Salvation Army was able to house about 20 people in their shelter.

Salvation Army Disaster Director Natalie Warren says numbers have varied.

“It fluctuates, you know and right now the biggest support we are providing, is this warming station and others in orange as well.”

Warren says their number one goal is to avoid casualties.

While donations are always welcome to help, a lot of these shelters like the Salvation Army, Henry's Place are in need of volunteers, whether it's a few hours or just one, anything helps.
