After leaving KCEN, Cooper came back to Beaumont in 1997 and spent more than 20 years forecasting the weather here in Southeast Texas. 12News News Director Ginny Sweeney said Cooper's extensive knowledge and vast experience make him a great addition to the StormTrackers team.

“Throughout his career, Kerry has shown himself more than up to the challenge of tackling our weather,” said Sweeney. “He’s forecasted everything from hurricanes to hail, and personifies our motto of “Putting Southeast Texas First.”
