BEAUMONT, Texas — Step into the Market Basket on 27th Street in Nederland, and you might not realize a storm is brewing the Gulf.
"The closer the storm gets, the more excited people get, the more nervous they get," said store manager Archie Moore.
Moore says things could pick up quickly Wednesday tonight.
"Water is the big thing, followed by non-perishable canned meats," Moore said.
Some customers were stocking up Wednesday.
Others said they were not that worried.
"Not really special preps, just getting a few extra things just in case," said Christina Campbell. "I feel like it 's not really anything to worry about because it's a low-level storm if it comes this way, and we're used to that, so it's just a matter of getting through the rain."
But with memories of Rita, Ike and Harvey, others said you can never be too prepared.

"Any situation that calls for something big, you should always take it to the worst extent just in case that happens," said Carson Rice.
Walmart staff knows the next few days may be busy ones as people prepare.
"Once it's get crazy, it's just going to be crazy, and that's just how it's going to be," said Moore.
