ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Volunteers have played an important role in the recovery process after Hurricane Laura, especially in Orange County.
From donating supplies, to putting boots on the ground, Southeast Texans are showing up for their neighbors.
Several volunteer groups working in Orange County could use an extra set of hands and supplies after Laura.
Their focus now is long-term recovery.
Michelle Tubbleville is the executive director for Orange County Disaster Rebuild.
"Any volunteers that we can get in that wants to work on people's yards or cleanup, tarp roofs, help repair roofs and homes. Those are the kind of volunteers we're going to be searching for," Tubbleville said.
Orange County Disaster Rebuild is focusing on the handy side of things. Meanwhile, United Way is asking for more supplies and donations, like food, water and ice.
Both are struggling to meet the needs of the community. They're in need of help.
As Orange County evacuees return home, it ups the demand for supplies.
Maureen McAllister is the CEO and President of United Way of Orange County.
