JEFFERSON COUNTY, Texas — Businesses, churches and other organizations across Southeast Texas are announcing closures ahead of Hurricane Laura and Post-Tropical Cyclone Marco.
Here is a list of the closures + reopenings announced so far:
Aug. 27, 1:15 p.m. — Six H-E-B stores are now reopen in the Golden Triangle, Beaumont H-E-B and H-E-B Plus! Lumberton, Port Arthur, Mid County and Groves, H-E-B spokesperson Christie Garella said in a statement.
Aug. 27, 11:45 a.m. — Two H-E-B stores in the Golden Triangle have reopened in Beaumont and Groves.
Aug. 27, 9:30 a.m. — Several Texas Oncology clinics have announced closures throughout the Gulf Coast region.
— Texas Breast Specialists in Webster will be closed on Thursday, August 27.
— Texas Oncology Surgical Specialists in Webster will be closed on Thursday, August 27.
— Texas Oncology in Baytown will be closed on Wednesday, August 27 and Thursday August 28.
— Texas Oncology in Beaumont will be closed Tuesday, August 25 through Friday, August 28.
— Texas Oncology Mamie McFaddin Ward Cancer Center in Beaumont will be closed Tuesday, August 25 through Friday, August 28.
— Texas Oncology Slayton Cancer Center in Deke will be closed on Thursday, August 27.
— Texas Oncology Southeast in Houston will be closed on Thursday, August 27.
— Texas Oncology in Jasper will be closed Tuesday, August 25 through Friday August 28.
— Texas Oncology in Pearland will be closed on Thursday, August 27.
— Texas Oncology in Port Arthur will be closed Tuesday, August 25 through Friday, August 28.
— Texas Oncology in Texas City will be closed on Thursday, August 27.
Aug. 26, 9:30 a.m. — Legacy Community Health announced their clinics in Beaumont and Baytown will be closed due to Hurricane Laura.
— Legacy San Jacinto, located at 4301 Garth Suite 400 in Baytown will be closed Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27.
— Legacy Central, located at 450 North 11th Street in Beaumont will be closed the rest of the week.
— Legacy Central Stagg, located at 3455 Stagg Drive in Beaumont will be closed the rest of the week.
Patients who have appointments will be contacted to reschedule their appointments. More details are on the clinic's website at www.legacycommunityhealth.org.
Aug. 25, 9 p.m. — Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen has closed all of its Houston-area locations through Thursday, August 27.
Aug. 25, 3 p.m. — The Big Thicket National Preserve closed as a safety measure in anticipation of Hurricane Laura. This closure includes all preserve facilities as well as lands and waterways within the preserve.
Aug. 25, 3 p.m. — H-E-B stores in the Golden Triangle will close Tuesday, August 25 at 8 p.m. with modified hours on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27. Store closings and re-openings will be posted at http://newsroom.heb.com/hurricane-laura.
Aug. 25, 2:30 p.m. — The Newton County Courthouse will be closed to the public beginning Wednesday, August 26 at 8:00 a.m. until further notice.
Aug. 24, 8 p.m. — Starbucks on Dowlen Road and College Street in Beaumont closed Tuesday, August 25 until further notice.
Aug. 24, 3 p.m. — Nutrition & Services for Seniors will be closed Tuesday, August 25, through Thursday, August 27. The organization staff will assess Thursday whether to reopen Friday.
Aug. 24, 3 p.m. — Beaumont Catholic Bishop David Toups is closing all Diocese of Beaumont offices until Friday, August 28.
“I am encouraging all Southeast Texans to closely listen to official news and weather sources, to follow instructions issued by their county or city emergency management and to join me in prayer for the protection of all those whose safety is being threatened by Marco and Laura,” Bishop Toups said. “Mary, Mother of Jesus and Star of the Sea, pray for us. Ask your Son to calm these storms and all of the storms in our lives.”
Aug. 24, 10 a.m. — Beaumont's First Baptist Church announced all activities scheduled on campus Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27 are cancelled due to inclement weather.
Multiple school districts across Southeast Texas have canceled both online and in-person classes ahead of Tropical Storms Marco and Laura.
