DEWEYVILLE, Texas — Deweyville ISD is encouraging its students and staff to use the upcoming week to "put things back in order" after Hurricane Laura knocked down stadium lights, with one landing on a school bus.
There won't be any classes or remote learning for the upcoming week, as crews work on both the district's campuses removing debris and the downed stadium lights.
Starting on Monday, there will be a distribution point at the school for those who need water or MREs.
The district is asking school personnel not to come to the campuses for liability reasons while crews clean up.
The school isn't taking clothing donations, but did say in a Facebook post that DISD is "definitely taking bus donations."
The post continued, "Only four more months and it won't be 2020 anymore!"
