BEAUMONT, Texas —
As people rushed to evacuate when waters from Imelda started rising, some pets were left behind. Many of those are being recovered by Beaumont Animal Care.
They said all the animals they picked up in the aftermath of the storm are going to be held for 30 days so owners can have a change to reclaim their pets. If that doesn’t happen, the animals will be available for adoption after the 30 day period.
Beaumont Animal Care said they did not pick up as many animals this time compared to their Harvey response.
Anyone who believes their pet is among the recovered animals is encouraged to contact them as soon as possible through Facebook messenger, their email address (animal.care@beaumonttexas.gov) or via phone (404) 838-3304. People can also stop by the shelter to look for lost pets but they’re encouraged to call first to ensure Beaumont Animal Care is open.
They posted a picture gallery on Facebook showing images of the lost pets.
