After flash flooding, Southeast Texas braces for more rain

Some roads were impassable Monday as heavy rain moved through Beaumont

Heavy rain across Southeast Texas caused flash flooding on Monday, and the area is bracing for more rain Tuesday.

The 12News StormTrackers say more rain and storms are expected to move through the area today.

Meteorologist Jeff Gerber says the rain will not be as widespread and heavy as Monday, but there could still be heavy downpours at times.

On Monday, heavy rain caused sporadic flash flooding across sections of Beaumont.

The Pine Club Apartments in northeast Beaumont saw its parking lot flood after several inches of rain fell in a short period of time.

There was also street flooding at Lucas at Eastex Fwy.

A car was trapped in high water that was roughly knee deep, according to police on the scene. Bigger trucks were able to pass through the area.

Heavy rain and cooler temperatures are forecast Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Wednesday through Friday highs will only reach the 70's with mostly dry conditions.

This weekend rain chances stay low with highs back in the 80's.
