ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating a wreck involving multiple vehicles in Orange County.
The wreck involved at six vehicles and previously shut down all westbound lanes of Interstate 10 at the state line. One lane has since been reopened.
Drivers should find alternate routes. The wreck happened shortly after 1:30 p.m.
Troopers believe that a 1995 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling west. The driver failed to control their speed as they approached slower moving traffic, according to a Texas DPS release.
The Peterbilt veered left and hit a concrete barrier. This caused a, “chain reaction with multiple other vehicles.”
The vehicles involved in the wreck included a a 2014 Ford pickup, a 2019 Alfa Romeo SUV, a 2020 Cub Cadet truck tractor semi-trailer, a 2013 Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer, and a 2017 Dodge pickup.
The driver of the Peterbilt was not injured and was cited for, “failing to drive in a single lane," according to the release.
The driver of the Ford and the driver and passenger of the Alfa Romeo were taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The driver and passenger of the Cadet were not injured. The driver of the Kenworth and the driver of the Dodge were also was not injured.
There were two passengers in the Dodge. One was not injured. The other was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

UPDATE: The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 1:40 p.m., a 1995 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling west. It is reported that the Peterbilt failed to control its speed as it approached slower moving traffic. The Peterbilt veered left, at which point it struck the concrete barrier, which caused a chain reaction with multiple other vehicles. Vehicles involved included a 2014 Ford pickup, a 2019 Alfa Romeo SUV, a 2020 Cub Cadet truck tractor semi-trailer, a 2013 Kenworth truck tractor semi-trailer, and a 2017 Dodge pickup.
The driver of the 1995 Peterbilt was not injured. They were cited for failing to drive in a single lane.
The driver of the 2014 Ford pickup was transported St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
The driver and passenger of the 2019 Alfa Romeo SUV was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
The driver and passenger of the 2020 Cub Cadet were not injured.
The driver of the 2013 Kenworth was not injured.
The driver of the 2017 Dodge pickup was not injured. There were two passengers, one identified as 22-year-old Jhonier Castillo De Jesus of Florida was not injured and one unidentified male, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.
There is currently one westbound lane of I-10 open. Motorists should expect delays.
