Wreck involving 18-wheeler, 3 cars shuts down WB Interstate 10 in SW Louisiana Thursday morning

The wreck happened about 1.6 miles east of the state line.

VINTON, La. — The westbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Southwest Louisiana are closed east of the Texas-Louisiana state line following a multi-car wreck involving an 18-wheeler.

The wreck happened before 6 a.m. Thursday and involved three passenger vehicles and an 18-wheeler about 1.6 miles east of the state line according to the Louisiana State Police.

Drivers in the area should use caution. There is no estimate on when the interstate will be reopened.

The State Police are on the scene of a four-vehicle crash involving three passenger vehicles and one 18-wheeler on I-10 west near milepost 1.6, just east of the Louisiana / Texas state line.

Both westbound lanes of travel are blocked at this time. Westbound traffic has backed up approximately 5 miles. 

Emergency personnel are working to get the roadway cleared and there is no estimated time of when the roadway will be reopened.
