ORANGE COUNTY, Texas — Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating after a late Monday afternoon wreck involving multiple vehicles left two people injured.
The crash happened on Interstate 10 eastbound at exit 879 in Orange County. Troopers believe a 2008 Mazda passenger car stopped in the road after one of its tires went flat at 5:30 p.m.
A driver of a 2011 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer was speeding and hit a 2014 Toyota passenger car, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety release. The Toyota was behind several other vehicles that were slowed because of the Mazda.
This caused a chain reaction. The crash involved at least eight vehicles, according to the release.
The driver of the Mazda was not injured. It is unknown if the driver of the Peterbilt was injured during the crash.
The driver and a passenger of the Toyota were taken to a hospital in Louisiana to be treated for their injuries.

ORANGE COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate Highway 10 east, at the 879-mile maker, that occurred today, July 25, 2022.
The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 5:30 p.m., the driver of a 2008 Mazda passenger car suffered a flat tire and stopped in the road. It is reported that the driver of a 2011 Peterbilt truck tractor semi-trailer failed to control his speed and struck a 2014 Toyota passenger car, located behind several vehicles that slowed due to the disabled motorist, which caused a chain reaction. The crash included at least eight vehicles.
The driver of the 2008 Mazda passenger car was not injured.
The driver of the 2011 Peterbilt's injuries are unknown at this time.
The driver of the 2014 Toyota passenger car for treatment. His passenger was also transported to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for treatment.
This investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
