Texas DPS investigating 2-vehicle Orange County crash that left 1 dead, 1 injured

It happened on FM 105 near Burnet Street, shortly before 1 p.m.

ORANGE, Texas — The Texas Department of Public safety is currently investigating a two-vehicle Orange County crash that claimed the life of one man and injured another.

It happened on FM 105 near Burnet Street, shortly before 1 p.m.  A preliminary investigation suggests that a 2021 Ford pickup was travelling north, when a 2018 Honda passenger car was pulling from a driveway into its path.

The Ford hit the Honda on its left side, according to a DPS release. The driver of the Ford, a North Carolina native, was transported to CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth to be treated for his injuries.

The driver of the Honda, Corey Sparkman, 26, of Beaumont, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is currently under investigation by Texas DPS. This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.

ORANGE COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a fatal crash on Farm-to-Market Road 105, approximately one-half mile south of Burnet Street.

The preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 12:40 p.m., a 2021 Ford pickup was traveling north, when a 2018 Honda passenger car pulled from a private drive into its path. The pickup struck the passenger car on its left side.

The driver of the pickup was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the passenger car was pronounced deceased on scene by an Orange County Justice of the Peace.

Their identity is not immediately available pending notification of the next of kin.

The investigation is ongoing, no additional information at this time.
