MAURICEVILLE, Texas — A 31-year-old man from Orange was killed in a single vehicle wreck along FM1136 south of Mauriceville early Tuesday morning.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are investigating the wreck that happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday according to DPS Lt. Chuck Havard.
Tyler Michael Johnson, 31, of Orange, was killed in the wreck according to Havard.
Johnson was driving a 2016 Dodge pickup north on FM 1136 near Linscomb Rd when he entered a curve at an unsafe speed according to a Texas DPS news release.
The pickup then left the road and drove into the ditch on the east side of the road, crossed back over the road and drove through the ditch on the west side and then into the woods where it flipped and struck several trees the release said.
The wreck was not discovered until nearly 11 a.m. according to firefighters on the scene.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene the release said.
No other details were released from the investigation which is ongoing.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Farm-to-Market Road 1136, near Linscomb Road, today, October 25, 2022.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2016 Dodge pickup was traveling north.
It is reported that the driver was traveling at a speed which was unsafe as they entered a curve.
The pickup traveled off the road into the east ditch and then back across into the west ditch, at which point it struck multiple trees and overturned.
The driver was pronounced deceased on scene. Their identity is not immediately available pending notification of their next of kin.
This is an ongoing investigation and there are no further details available at this time.
