Power line work to cause 'rolling stops' along U.S. Hwy 69 near Jefferson County jail through mid-morning

Drivers should expect “rolling stops” lasting 20 minutes each along all lanes of U.S. Highway 69 on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Southeast Texas Drivers may want to avoid driving between Beaumont and Mid-County or Port Arthur until after mid-morning Wednesday due to power line work.

Drivers can expect “rolling stops” lasting 20 minutes each along all lanes of U.S. Highway 69 on Wednesday from 9 a.m. through 11 a.m. according to a Beaumont Police Department news release.

Entergy crews will be installing power lines across all lanes of the highway near the Jefferson County jail according to the release.

Each closure will last 20 minutes followed by a brief opening and then the next 20 minute closure. This will affect all lanes and service roads shutting down traffic in both directions.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible or seek an alternate route.
