VIDOR, Texas — A 43-year-old Hamshire man is dead following a single-vehicle wreck just north of Vidor early Thursday morning.
Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety were called to investigate the wreck that happened at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday along West Circle Drive about four miles north of Vidor according to a news release from the DPS.
Tyra Hemmenway 43, of Hamshire, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck according to the release.
Both he and the driver, Dallas Hemmenway, 38, of Hamshire, were ejected from a 2019 Dodge pickup truck.
The truck, driven by Dallas Hemmenway, was traveling east along West Circle at an "unsafe speed" when it left the roadway onto the right and struck several trees the release said.
Dallas Hemmenway was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment according to the release which did not mention his condition.
The wreck remains under investigation according to the release.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a one-vehicle fatal crash early this morning on West Circle Drive, about four miles north of Vidor.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 2:30 a.m., a 2019 Dodge pickup was traveling east at an unsafe speed when the vehicle drove off the roadway to the right and struck several trees; ejecting the driver and passenger.
The driver is identified as 38-year-old Dallas Hemmenway (male) from Hampshire. Dallas Hemmenway was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont for treatment. A passenger with Dallas Hemmenway, identified as 43-year-old Tyra Hemmenway (male), also from Hampshire was pronounced deceased at the scene by an Orange County Justice of the Peace.
This crash remains under investigation. Additional information is not available at this time.
