70-year-old Beaumont man struck, killed by vehicle Saturday evening in Beaumont on Magnolia Ave

He was struck by a northbound Chevrolet after he walked into the road from a lot along Magnolia Ave, police said.

BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating after a 70-year-old man was struck and killed Saturday evening along Magnolia Ave in Beaumont's north end.

Earnest Foster, 70, of Beaumont, died after being struck by a vehicle along Magnolia Ave., according to Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins, Sr.

Officers were sent to the 3500 block of Magnolia Ave. after the Foster was struck according to a news release from Beaumont Police.

Preliminary investigation by officers shows that a 2001 Chevrolet was headed north in the right lane of Magnolia Ave when the Foster walked from a vacant lot into the street.

The Chevrolet struck the Foster, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Police did not release any other information.
