BEAUMONT, Texas — Beaumont Police are investigating after a Thursday night accident claimed the life of a 39-year-old Beaumont man riding a scooter in the city’s north end.
Clifford Hudson Jr., 39, of Beaumont, was struck by a Chevy Suburban while riding a "self-propelled child scooter" in the westbound outside lane of the 3100 block of East Lucas Drive police said.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene near the intersection of Lucas and Abilene Street just after 9:30 p.m.
Medics pronounced Hudson dead at the scene according to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department.
Currently there has been no mention by police of any charges being filed in the accident.

On Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 9:31 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to the 3100 block of East Lucas in reference to a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on a scooter.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that Clifford Hudson Jr., a 39 year old Beaumont resident was riding a self-propelled child scooter in the outside westbound lane in the 3100 block of E. Lucas.
A white Chevy Suburban was also traveling in the same lane, westbound and struck Hudson.
Beaumont EMS responded to the scene and pronounced Hudson deceased. The investigation is on-going.
