PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Port Arthur Police are investigating the death of a man who investigators believe was hit multiple times Saturday night.
It happened on U.S. 69 southbound near an IHOP after 9 p.m., according to Port Arthur Police Chief Tim Duriso. One of the vehicles that hit the man was an 18-wheeler.
Officials told 12News that the driver of the 18-wheeler told investigators the victim was already on the ground when he hit him. Investigators suspect that prior to the 18-wheeler hitting him, the victim was also hit by a different vehicle.
The driver of the 18-wheeler is cooperating with the investigation, according to Chief Duriso.
At this time, it is unknown what charges if any those involved may face.
The identity of the victim is currently unknown. Justice of the Peace Ben Collins was called to the scene and has ordered an autopsy.
This is a developing story. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
